Back To The Future: The Musical to close in London in 2026
Great Scott! Producers have revealed that Back to the Future: The Musical will close at the Adelphi Theatre in the West End after five years. The run will end on 12 April 2026, after completing an impressive 1913 performances.
Based on the 1985 blockbuster Hollywood movie starring Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, Back to the Future: The Musical follows the fortunes of teenager Marty McFly, who travels back in time to the 1950s - at 88 miles per hour in a time-traveling DeLorean car. After arriving in 1955 to ensure the future existence of his family, Marty must ensure that his parents meet and fall in love.
The stage adaptation is written by Bob Gale, with music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award winner Alan Silvestri and multi-Grammy winner Glen Ballard, featuring classic hits such as “Johnny B Goode” and “The Power of Love.”
The wider creative team behind the show includes director John Rando, choreographer Chris Bailey, video designer Finn Ross, set and costume designer Tim Hatley, musical supervisor and arrangements by Nick Finlow, lighting designer Tim Lutkin and Hugh Vanstone, illusions by Chris Fisher, sound designer Gareth Owen, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook, and dance arrangements by David Chase.
The production will begin a UK tour in October 2026.
