50 First Dates: The Musical To Open In London In September
A stage adaptation of the 2004 romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, 50 First Dates, has been announced.
50 First Dates: The Musical will open at The Other Palace in London on September 14 and follows the fortunes of Henry and Lucy, who fall in love, but have to deal with the unfortunate fact that she suffers from acute short-term memory loss.
The musical will be choreographed and directed Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, and is written by Steve Rosen and David Rossmer.
Josh St Clair will star as the womanising Henry opposite Georgina Castle, who will take on the role of art teacher Lucy, who wakes up every morning thinking it's Sunday, 13 October.
Speaking of the announcement, Nicholaw said: “50 First Dates is one of the most beloved romantic comedies of all time, and has also been one of my favorites ever since I first saw it. I’m so excited to direct and choreograph the world premiere of this new, funny, and romantic show… I can’t wait for London audiences to fall in love—again and again and again—when we open this September.”
The creative team features, video designer George Reeve, costume and set design by Fly Davis, sound designer Adam Fisher, and lighting designer Aideen Malone. Orchestrations and arrangements are by Matthew Jackson, air and makeup design from Cynthia De La Rosa, and the musical director and supervision are from Richard Beadle. In charge of casting will be Natalie Gallacher and Pippa Ailion Casting. The musical is produced by ATG Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Bad Robot Live.
Further cast will be announced in due course.
50 First Dates will open at the Other Palace on 14 September and performances will run until 16 November 2025.
