Creative Team Revealed For Burlesque the Musical in London
Todrick Hall will choreograph and direct the West End premiere of Burlesque the Musical which will open in London at the Savoy Theatre this summer. Performances will begin on 10 July, and run at the venue until 6 September.
Hall starred in the original Broadway cast of both Memphis, and The Color Purple. He has also appeared as Billy Flynn in Chicago, Lola in Kinky Boots, and Ogie in Waitress. In the UK, Hall played Billy Flynn in Chicago, Donkey in Shrek the Musical, and also Sean in Burlesque the Musical in both Glasgow and Manchester.
He has been seen on screen in RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Greatest Dancer, The Masked Singer, Dear White People, and Bob’s Burgers Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Burlesque the Musical is based on the popular Hollywood movie starring Cher and Christina Aguilera and follows the fortunes of Ali as she travels to New York searching for her mother. After arriving in the Big Apple, she is swept up into a dark, and underground world.
Hall commented on the appointment, saying: "This is a huge milestone in my life and career. I’ve always dreamt of being involved in the creative side of a brand new original musical, and I’m privileged, flattered, and ecstatic to make my directorial debut with Burlesque The Musical!”
Behind the scenes, alongside Todrick Hall, the show's creative team will include Jess Folley (Lyrics and Music), Steven Antin (Producer/Book Writer), Sia, Christina Aguilera, and Kate Wetherhead (Book - Additional material).
