James Graham’s play dramatising Gareth Southgate’s inspirational leadership of the England football team is set to transfer into the West End at the Prince Edward Theatre for a strictly limited 14-week engagement.

Dear England will be directed by outgoing National artistic director Rupert Goold and will open at the Prince Edward Theatre on October 9th with performances due to run until January 13th, 2024.

Speaking in a statement about the appointment, Graham commented: “To put the National Game on the stage of the National Theatre has been an utter dream and, in particular, to see the subject matter draw in new audiences to watch a play. It fills me with such excitement and joy to be bringing Rupert's euphoric and entertaining production to the West End, with all its incredible movement and music and — what seems to be, for audiences so far — a deeply moving story inspired by the incredible journey of the men's England football team.”

Joseph Fiennes will reprise his role as England Manager, Gareth Southgate, with further casting set to be announced at a later date.
The creative team involved in the production features lighting designer Jon Clark, set designer Es Devlin, costume designer Evie Gurney, and movement directors Hannes Langolf and Ellen Kane.
