Following its world premiere and a sold-out season at the Theatre Royal Bath, Frank and Percy now transfers to London at The Other Palace this September, starring Roger Allam and Sir Ian McKellen.
Sean Matthias directs the production which is a touching and humourous look into the unexpected bond and friendship that blossoms between two men. While their dogs play in the park, the two men ponder how human connections are so much more complicated and temperamental than those of dogs.
Commenting about the London transfer, Matthias stated: “I cannot believe my luck in finding this charming and original new play. Ben Weatherill is a true young talent in theatre. To have reunited Ian and Roger after almost 20 years since we all did Aladdin together at the Old Vic is a real coup. Frank and Percy explores the fragility and joy of relationships, and what forges and strengthens bonds between humans, at a time when more than ever, we all need to love and support one another.”
The play will be produced by Bill Kenwright, written by emerging British playwright Ben Weathermill, and is scheduled to run at The Other Palace from September 8th to December 3rd, 2023 with a talented creative team behind the production that includes designer Morgan Large, sound designer Andy Graham, and lighting designer Nick Richings.
The Other Palace will also launch a new writing development fund with this production. For every ticket sold for future productions, 50p will go towards supporting the development of new work and emerging playwrights.

The Other Palace is an intimate venue and the seats can sometimes be reconfigured depending on the resident production however, the main auditorium offers excellent views of the stage from all seats and has a steep rake and there are no obvious restrictions to views of the stage. Each row has a slight curve, but you can see the entire stage from wherever you sit in the theatre.
The best overall views are situated in the mid-centre of the theatre with rows F-J being particularly good and sitting close-up to the stage for plays and one-off concerts is also recommended.
Value for money can be found by sitting in rows M-N which are often discounted but still offer an amazing and clear view of the stage making them ideal for bargain hunters looking for cheap Frank and Percy tickets. Equally, the seats at the ends of rows offer good value for money, with completely clear views of the stage, and generally fall into lower price bands!
