Wedding Band Tickets – Lyric Hammersmith

Set in the American deep South of in 1918 when interracial marriage was still illegal, Herman, a white baker, and Julia, a black seamstress are in love and defying the odds. The couple faces vicious judgment from both society and their closest family and friends. Just as they finally start to believe that their dream for a future together is possible, Herman contracts the dreaded and deadly Spanish flu. Julia is suddenly faced with big decisions that will change her life if she is to save him.

Wedding Band is a searing and powerful masterpiece from award-winning American playwright Alice Childress that offers a stark reflection of the societal reality she was writing in during the Civil Rights era in the USA. It explores themes of class and race and questions the devastating impact of unjust laws that were enforced on ordinary human lives.

Monique Touko directs this moving and emotive drama at the Lyric Hammersmith.

Well-priced and cheap seats can be found at the rear of the Stalls, which offer a great overall view of the stage at a reduced price. Sitting in the back of the Circle is also good value for money with clear-view seating from an elevated position. bargain hunters looking for lastminute tickets on a strict budget should look at options in the Upper Circle.
