Hunter and Jeff, two struggling writers, hear news of a new musical theatre festival. With the deadline for submissions just three weeks away, and with nothing to lose, they attempt to create something new with the help of their friends Heidi, Susan, and Larry on the eighty-eight. With the cast now in place, Hunter and Jeff concentrate on what to write about. After a while, Jeff suggests they write a script about what to write about, and they make a pact to write up until the deadline and dream about the festival changing their lives.
[title of show] – taken from the space on the application form of the festival which asks for the “[title of show]” – follows Jeff and Hunter and their friends as they navigate their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression. In the space of 90 minutes at the Southwark Playhouse Borough, they write and perform their show at the festival and learn valuable lessons about themselves as people, artists, and friends.
