Combining a classical repertoire with original contemporary styles of inclusive movement, this gala combines disabled and non-disabled dancers to tell an inspiring and moving story of resilience, unity, and the transformative power of the arts.
Empower In Motion features a talented cast of extraordinary dancers, headlined by international superstars Daniil Simkin & Maria Kochetkova in a world premiere at Sadler’s Wells choreographed by International Dancer and Choreographer Sebastian Kloborg. Daniil Simkin also partners for the first time with Birmingham Royal Ballet Principal Yaoqian Shang in ‘Le Corsaire’.
Sadler’s Wells is delighted to also have the Stopgap Dance Company perform two excerpts titled Tight Textures, an ensemble piece, and Unplugged, a solo performance
Further involvement with other organisations includes icandance, National Youth Ballet’s All In! company, and Parable Dance, who, through their mesmerising performances of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, and ‘Reunion’ explore the potential of the human spirit.
Superstars of English Ballet, Gareth Haw and Sangeun Lee will perform excerpts from ‘Giselle’ with Alice Bellini and other highly established dancers joining forces with disabled dancers, including Professional Disabled Dancer Joe Powell-Main. Empower In Motion is not simply a dance performance; it is a vibrant call to action, introducing audiences to the numerous organisations working tirelessly to support inclusive dance across the UK. Representatives from these organisations will share their initiatives and stories, shedding light on the impact of their work.
All proceeds raised from the evening will be donated to Children Today Charitable Trust who provide specialised care and equipment to families helping them to thrive, not just survive.
