“Suppose I were to start by saying that I had fallen in love with a colour.”
Bluets is a story about pleasure and pain, depression and desire, and a person possessed by a lifetime's obsession with the colour blue.
Performed at the Royal Court Theatre by Emma D’Arcy, Kayla Meikle, and Ben Whishaw, Bluets communes with iconic artists like Derek Jarman, Billie Holiday, Joni Mitchell, and Andy Warhol, for whom the colour blue is their constant companion as they attempt to navigate their way through the devastating pain of a life-altering heartbreak.
Bluets is a play based on acclaimed author Maggie Nelson’s unique and electrifying book and is an adaptation by playwright Margaret Perry, and directed by Katie Mitchell.
