Playwright Jasmine Naziha Jones will star in her debut play Baghdaddy later this year with previews set to begin at the Royal Court on November 18th, with an official opening night scheduled for November 24th, and performances due to run at the venue until December 17th. The play is set in 1991, during the Gulf War and an eight-year-old in the UK learns after watching the TV news about the conflict that she is actually an Iraqi. Baghaddy explores both national identity and generational trauma at a time of tense global conflict.
Baghdaddy is the debut play from Jasmine Naziha Jones and was developed as part of an 'Introduction to Playwriting group' at the Royal Court Theatre.
Milli Bhatia will direct the production which will star Noof Ousellam, Souad Faress, Philip Arditti, Jasmine Naziha Jones, and Hayat Kamille. The creative team behind the play features sound design by Elena Peña, design by Moi Tran, and lighting design by Jessica Hung Han Yun.
Baghdaddy will begin performances at the Royal Court on November 18th. The Royal Court Theatre is a small and intimate Off West End venue situated in Sloane Square. The theatre has three different levels of seating and five different pricing bands that can be exploited to keep prices down without affecting the enjoyment of the production due to the size of the venue. Looking for the cut off points in the different price bands can suit patrons looking to secure lastminute theatre tickets however, there are some restricted view seats situated on the sides in the Balcony section on the second floor, and also in the slips in the Dress Circle so patrons are advised to check the seating plan prior to purchase.
